Florida Employers: Okay to Mandate Employee COVID-19 Vaccination
As explained in the previous post, employers are well within their right to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations. Employers must be aware of any state laws that prohibit such a mandate. Currently, there is one state that prohibits such a mandate: Montana.
Florida recently passed a law that states, “a business entity…may not require patrons or customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post infection recovery to gain access to, entry upon, or service from business operations in the state.” This law only applies to vaccination documentation of patrons. This bill does not even mention employer rights as it relates to vaccine mandates.
The bill’s silence renders it lawful for employers with employees and/or locations in Florida to require their employees to receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
