Philadelphia Lifts the Indoor Mask Mandate at 12:01 am on June 11, 2021

On June 10, 2021, the City of Philadelphia announced that it would be relaxing two more restrictions: (1) the indoor mask mandate and (2) the 11:00 pm “last call” for restaurants.

With respect to masks, the City outlined the following, “people who are not vaccinated or are not fully vaccinated are still strongly recommended to wear masks indoors and outdoors when around others but are no longer required to do so by Philadelphia.”

It must be noted that in Philadelphia, masks are still mandated in: (1) Healthcare Institutions, (2) Congregate facilities such as prisons, shelters and adult programs, (3) Public Transportation, and (4) Schools.

What does this mean?

Employers with offices in Philadelphia can operate at full occupancy and employees do not have to wear masks. Businesses should consult with counsel with any questions relating to business operations during this time of loosening of restrictions.
