Bureau of Labor Statistics Released Job Numbers for January 2021
On March 15, 2021, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released the job numbers for January. Hawaii has the highest unemployment rate at 10.2%. South Dakota and Utah are tied for the lowest unemployment rate at 3.1%. The unemployment rate in Pennsylvania for the month of January was 7.3%. To put that in perspective, the unemployment rate in Pennsyvlania in January 2020, pre-pandemic, was 4.8%.
As we round the one year mark of the pandemic, it will be interesting to compare the unemployment rates for “pandemic months” (meaning March 2020 - onward), to the months in 2021.
The Bureau releases these number monthly.
